ACCA / FIA

Why ACCA?

Established in 1904 and thus with a long and glorious history, ACCA is one of the largest and fastest growing professional accountancy bodies in the world. Let the facts speak for themselves:

  • 183: number of countries in which ACCA has its presence
  • 170,000: number of ACCA members globally
  • 500,000: number of ACCA students globally
  • 400: number of ACCA examination centres globally
  • 83: number of offices and centres globally

Thus ACCA is truly a global qualification and its USPs (Unique Selling Propositions) include the following:

  • International Recognition
  • Global Mobility in terms of career
  • Flexibility in achieving the qualification

In this era of globalisation where territorial boundaries are increasingly melting when it comes to trade and business, ACCA is one of the best career choices for an individual aspiring to build a career in accountancy and finance.

  • ACCA has an open registration policy which means that an aspiring student can join ACCA at any time bearing in mind the exam entry deadline periods.
  • Exams are held twice a year: one in June, the other in December. Maximum four papers can be sat for in any examination cycle.
  • In order to be an ACCA member, fourteen paper exams plus 36 months (3 years) Practical Experience Requirement (PER) have to be completed.
  • One of the beauties of ACCA is that the PER can be met in course of the studies and even after the completion of studies. However, it is advisable that students complete their PER along with their studies.
  • The maximum number of papers that can be sat for is four while there is no such thing as minimum number. The number of papers that a student aims to sit will depend upon work load and other commitments.
  • Thus in order to be an ACCA member (14 paper exams plus 36 months PER), the time duration that will be required is tentatively four to four and a half years.
