We understand that students studying for their ACCA professional examinations are having difficulty with the coronavirus dominating the news headlines.

Many of you may be juggling a job and studying at home, while others may still be working and struggling to keep on track with your studies.

In these trying times, we wanted to offer some tips on how to stay focused despite what’s going on in the world and pass your ACCA examinations to further your career.

Let’s look at some of the most effective techniques to stay on track with your studies.

Breakaway from the news and social media.

We know it isn’t easy, but try to take a break every 20 seconds from reading about the coronavirus! We’re all guilty of it, but focusing solely on the current state of affairs is harmful.

You may wish to pause studying and focus on another subject – in this example, the ACCA curriculum!

The goal of studying right now is to try to come out of it stronger than when you started.

Plus, if you can keep up your studies and get closer to your qualification, that’s even better.

Separate your studies from your personal and professional life.

Some of you may have worked from home while studying, but this is your first time for many of you.

With many aspects of your life converging under one roof, it’s critical to keep track of the various things you’re working on. So, instead of going to work and then studying in the library before returning home to rest, you’re now attempting to do everything in one area.

The goal is to strive to distinguish between tasks as much as possible. Perhaps work for a while and then take a rest before returning to your research.

If you’re working in the same place, it’s a good idea to clean your desk, walk away, and then return to shift the environment somewhat.

Stick to a study schedule.

This point builds on establishing a routine by providing you with a specific plan to follow to keep on top of things.

Simple 12-week and 6-week study plans that incorporate weekly study and practice. Use the reference and incorporate them into your daily routine.

Emphasize resiliency.

We talk about resilience a lot, but maintaining a resilient mentality is more important than ever when studying for and passing tests.

It’s critical to adjust your plans and bounce back when faced with obstacles.

However, this is a time when you may demonstrate your dedication to your academics by turning a negative into a positive and staying on top of things.

Possess a Positive Attitude.

We discuss a lot about mentality because it’s so crucial to passing your examinations.

We constantly use athletes as an analogy because I think it’s a good one. Everyone is apprehensive right now, but I always remind myself that athletes must train to succeed even in the most challenging conditions.

Keeping a positive attitude will be crucial in getting through this challenging time and condition. It is a good attitude that will help you succeed in your exam.

So, strive to turn every negative into a good, as tricky as it may be. It will be more advantageous if you do it quickly.

We’ll all get through this a lot faster if we all have a little bit of a positive outlook, and you’ll get through your examinations a lot faster if you do.

The coming months will be difficult, but that is no reason to lose sight of your academic and professional objectives.
