What is ACCA?

Accountants in the UK and other countries make up the majority of ACCA members. Qualifications are well recognized in almost all countries in the world and are considered to be local capabilities.

You can demonstrate to employers that you can handle any aspect of business with your ACCA certification. Over half a million students in 170 countries study, accounting in over half a million schools worldwide.

ACCA or CA?

In Nepal, Chartered Accountancy has been known as the most rewarding and satisfying career in accountancy. Previously, there was no contender for this qualification in Nepal for a long time. Global awareness and increased availability of accounting degrees have made the ACCA an international force to be reckoned with.

CA is undoubtedly Nepal’s most desired degree, but its low passing rates and limited international recognition discourage many aspirants from pursuing it. The ACCA has gained a reputation as a prodigious accounting qualification for students and young professionals.

Have you also faced the dilemma of choosing between ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and CA? For more information on how these two extensive degrees differ, read on:

ACCA after CA

However, you do not always have to choose between the two. By completing the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants after CA, you gain a competitive advantage over others.

Taking ACCA after CA has the following advantages:

Global recognition – Nepali CAs who wish to gain international recognition should consider ACCA. It allows candidates to work in varied roles, including financial advisory, accounting, analysis, treasury, etc., in top multinational companies. Additionally, a candidate may qualify for opportunities abroad if he or she is an ACCA.

Flexibility – As a Nepali CA, you will be exempt from the nine papers, which means you will only have to sit for five papers (at a professional level) of The ACCA Qualification to become a member. Additionally, the CA articleship counts as one of the Practical Experience Requirements (PER) for ACCA.

Exam pattern – Exams are conducted in groups rather than in groups as in the Nepali CA. For ACCA exams, you need to take the modules you haven’t cleared, not the whole group.

Our Recommendation

When you are familiar with the features of each qualification and its prospects in Nepal and abroad, you will be able to make an informed decision. Although both of these qualifications are highly sought after, it depends on your career goals which one you choose. Generally, your decision will be influenced by these three factors:

Career Goals: ACCA is the best choice for a global career, while Chartered Accountancy is a better choice for a career in the public sector. A member of the ACCA who is not a Chartered Accountant in Nepal cannot act as an Auditor. They can work in Audit teams, though. A member of the ICAN will remain legally entitled to sign documents.

The flexibility of the curriculum: You should also consider the degree of flexibility that each qualification provides and how comfortable you are with the course and exam structure.

Time commitment: Due to its difficulty level and re-examination pattern, passing the CA papers can take a few years, while ACCA takes two to three years. For those who need to start their careers fast and have time constraints, ACCA may be the best option.
