Benefits of ACCA – Oxford Brookes University

Academic partners of the ACCA can offer further degree-level qualifications in accountancy to members. A BSc (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting has been available since 2001 through Oxford Brookes University and ACCA.

By obtaining a degree alongside your professional qualification, you demonstrate to employers that you are ambitious and wise enough to get two qualifications at once and that you are eager and able to work. Oxford Brookes University has evolved into a business school focused on career fulfilment and personal development as an art school.

Students enrolled in the BSc program in applied accounting will gain the skills and knowledge necessary for careers as professional accountants and contribute more to organizations and society in general. ACCA’s syllabus is incorporated into the classroom setting to meet this goal. For admission, there is a simple process:

  • Before taking any of ACCA’s papers, applying to Oxford Brookes University for a BSc degree;
  • A recognized English language qualification certificate approved by ACCA is required before taking these ACCA papers:

  • Financial Reporting (FR);

  • Audit and Assurance (AA);
  • Financial Management (FM).

Also, you must complete the degree within ten years after you first take the ACCA.

The degree must be earned by meeting specific requirements, which include:

  • The FR, AA, FM, and Applied Knowledge exams must be passed, and the remaining Applied Skills exams must be given via exemption or examination;
  • The modules on Professional Ethics and Leadership of the ACCA must be completed;
  • RAP from Oxford Brookes University (submit here)

The research and analysis project (RAP) will take approximately four to six months to complete, and it will consist of two documents: a 2,000-word Skills and Learning Statement (SLS) and a 7,500-word Research Report (RR).

As part ofStudents can earn one of three pass grades (A, B, or C), or they can fail the course (F) in the RR. Alternatively, SLS students can be graded either as passes or as failures. Passing the SLS and the RR will award you a pass in the RAP. Your overall score for the RAP would be the score you receive for the RR. Students must choose one topic out of 20 options, which can be viewed here (the RAP assignment brief section). Students are to answer the following questions in the SLS section:

  • Analyze the information that you learned from your mentoring meetings, including your presentation to your mentor.
  • Your research objectives for RAP have been achieved to what extent, do you think?
  • During the project, how did you demonstrate your interpersonal and communication skills?
  • How did the RAP help you in your accountancy studies and/or current employment?

The project submission fee for students at Oxford Brookes University is £380, and they are required to pay the ACCA membership fees. ACCA students can earn an additional degree in this way without spending a lot in tuition fees.
