ACCA Nepal and NCA College of Management Organize Accounting Training for Teachers from Three Districts of Koshi

In a collaborative initiative between ACCA Nepal and NCA College of Management, educators from three districts in Koshi Province received training on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The training session took place on Saturday, 8th Ashadh, in Biratnagar, Morang.

Eighty teachers from 70 colleges across Morang, Sunsari, and Jhapa, who teach accounting subjects at the 11th and 12th-grade levels as well as BBA and BBS courses, participated in the training. This program focused on the Certificate in International Financial Reporting Standards, aligning with recent curriculum updates.

The event's opening session was presided over by Suresh Pandit, President of NCA College, with ACCA Nepal Chief Rabin Katwal welcoming participants and emphasizing the program's objectives and significance. Katwal also presented tokens of appreciation to visiting dignitaries.

Prof. Dr. Bijukumar Thapaliya, Vice-Chancellor of Purbanchal University, inaugurated the program by lighting a ceremonial lamp and delivered an address highlighting the relevance of IFRS in Nepal's educational context. Other notable speakers included Prof. Binod Aryal, Executive Director of Madan Bhandari Memorial Institute; Kedar Prasad Guragain, Head of Sundarharaincha Municipality; Bheshraj Pokhrel, Central Vice President of Hissan; Jeevan Gadtaula, Head of the National Examination Board Biratnagar; Rajan Paudel, Chairman of the National Examination Board; and Drona Bahadur Shrestha, President of the Nepal National Teachers Organization Jhapa.

The program saw attendance from presidents of Hissan, Pabson, N-Pabson, and various teachers' organizations from Morang, Sunsari, and Jhapa districts. In his keynote speech, Prof. Dr. Thapaliya underscored the necessity of integrating IFRS into Nepal's educational discourse. Prof. Aryal lauded the global recognition of ACCA and advocated for broader awareness among educational professionals. Jeevan Gadtaula emphasized the training's relevance in light of recent syllabus changes by the National Examination Board.

NCA College, recognized as an Approved Learning Partner-Gold by ACCA in 2010, has been a pioneer in offering quality ACCA professional education in Nepal for over 20 years. It is also the first college in Nepal approved by the Ministry of Education to conduct ACCA preparation classes.

During the one-day training, Karna Thapa led the instructional sessions, while Chairman Suresh Pandit provided insights into the ACCA Course and NCA College. The program concluded with Jeevan Gadtaula distributing certificates to the participants, and educationist Narayan Acharya coordinating the event.

This training marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality of accounting education in Nepal, equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills to better align with international standards.
